Silhouette Studio Striped Alphabet - Variations 4 & 5

Hello Friends!

These are the last two of 5 projects this week featuring the use of one striped alphabet. I think these are my two favorite projects so far, and both, again, are very quick and easy. I hope this exercise has helped to demonstrate not only the lack of limitations when creating but also the fun in adding your own personal twist to any project you might be considering.

To make the treat bag toppers, I printed the design on white cardstock and then placed it on the cutting mat and sent it through the Silhouette for cutting. I had 4-inch wide treat bags so that's how wide I made the topper. I used a tape runner to seal the treat bags and then used the same tape runner on both sides of the topper to secure it to the bag. The entire project - printing the toppers, cutting them, filling the treat bags and securing everything together - took, literally, about twelve minutes.

The cupcake picks were very quick too - about 10 minutes, max. I used white 8.5x11 full-sheet sticker label stock to print-and-cut the round shapes (1 sheet per color). The scallop shapes were cut (no need to print them!) from one sheet of white 8.5x11 cardstock. Once all of the shapes were cut, I grabbed some toothpicks from the kitchen and made cupcake picks: one sticker is attached to one side of the scalloped shape, and on the reverse side, the other sticker is used to attach the toothpick to the scalloped shape.

Try to center the stickers and keep them facing the same way on both sides; if everything's a little wonky, it's okay. Creativity isn't about perfection (or I'd never get anything done!), it's about fun and special touches and the uniqueness that each person brings to their own projects. So have fun and don't sweat the small stuff.

I'm sure this alphabet will appear again, in future designs, since stripes are one of my favorite things in the world. In the meantime, if you use this alphabet in any of your projects, I'd love to see pictures...please send them my way!

More ideas to come. See you soon.
