Hello Friends!
Well let's just say that today was a frustrating day. I
started to write a post about paper daisies but that didn't go well. Not that
the post didn't go well but the daisies didn't go well. They started out with
promise but didn't finish...correctly.
I'd made a materials list, I had a plan, they were
completely designed in my mind. But they didn't turn out in reality the way
they looked in my mind. I also didn't have quite the supplies I needed. Whaaaat?
So much for the materials list! That project's on hold until I can get a few
more things. It's a little deflating but I'll be back at it tomorrow.
That's the creative life, though. Some days are winners and
some days are...frustrating. But having chosen to write this blog, I want to be
honest about the process. I've read other creative blogs for a long time and,
to me, it looks like every project is perfect the first time out. For me,
that's just not the case!
I'm sure that the more practiced I become at daily creating,
the more quickly I will turn ideas from concept to reality. It's okay if I
don't though; I'm still a work in progress, learning how to live this creative
life the best I know how.
Not to worry, though! I have something fun to share anyway. Have
you ever heard of the Habitat for Humanity ReStore? The one in our town is
fantastic...a big open yard and warehouse stocked full with rows and rows of interesting things. Eye candy
for the DIY-er.
It takes time to go to stores like this. Obviously, not
everything is wonderful so having time to browse and look behind and under and around
is valuable. It's also a good idea to bring gloves and your imagination...the
opportunities for re-purposing are excellent!
If I was in a serious makeover mode, this is one of the stores
I would visit frequently. You literally
never know what you may find and the prices are fantastic. Since I'm not in
makeover mode but rather trying t to downsize, this was just a pleasure
trip...a happy excursion to exercise my creative muscles in a different way.
More ideas to come.
~M~
These are very fun photos--so much pattern...
