Three Ways to 'Thank You'

Hello peeps!

Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone had a nice weekend. Ours was good, although rainy and blustery on Saturday...we slept in and listened to the rain all day.

Have you all heard of Amy Atlas? If you haven't, you need to check out her website. She's a stylist and event planner type person and has done some of the most amazing dessert buffets and sweets displays I've ever seen!

I bought her book - not because I have any intention of laying out a huge dessert buffet any time soon - but because it's an amazing source of inspiration. It shows her creativity, originality, and use of bright colors and patterns. Her designs are fun and beautiful, not always an easy balance to strike. She's so generous, too, sharing templates, designs, crafting and shopping sources on both her site and in the book. With her inspiration, a printer and some paper and glue, anyone can recreate her style. This book's been a great addition to my design library.

Yesterday, I designed three little thank you notes for cutting on your Silhouette machine. They're about business card sized and are pretty simple to slip in a glassine envelope, tie around a coffee cup, or attach to a gift card to say thank you to someone in a special way.

I designed the file in turquoise - I think it's a good spring-ish color. I might create a few more colors, if I do, I'll let you know and give you links to the download files. I don't think I'll make printable files of these - the cuts are a little complicated without a die cut machine.

And look at this clever little thing! I saw an example in HGTV magazine (one of my favorite mags) and had to make one for myself. It's just a little mason jar that stores matches. The clever part was gluing sandpaper to the flat lid of the jar. This would be a really cute way to give a gift of candles - wrap some candles in pretty paper and present them with a jar of matches - easy peasy!

I love the small quilted mason jars and oh my gosh(!) I just realized they have a small flat place for a label...sweet! Don't you think they're cute?
Stay tuned...

Shape Share - Cute Cottage

Hello Friends!

Here I am.

I went on a trip last week, visiting my people in Southern California. I had every intention of blogging while traveling but those intentions flew right out the window. When it came to visiting with people I love or typing on my laptop for a few hours, the choice was clear - my peeps'll win out every time!

Now that I'm back and in bloggy mode, I have a new Silhouette shape to share with you. It's a cute little cottage - that's what I call it - and I've made three different projects from the one shape. The first is a washi tape cottage, just something cute for spring decor; the second is a congratulations card for a new home; the last is a small garland, cut from scrapbook cardstock and hung with my beloved baker's twine.

Using one shape in multiple ways is one of the best things, to me, about having an electronic die cutter. With a little imagination and shape manipulation, I've got new ideas for friends and home and new designs to add to my library!

I hope you all can find something fun to do with this (.studio) cut file. It's here for you to download. Share pictures if you make something!

More to come.
