On Your Mark...

Hello friends!

I had a meeting this morning and then I ran to the JoAnn Superstore. Oh my...creative stimulation to the max! I think I spent close to an hour in the store and there was still more I could have checked out. I have to limit myself, though, or I end up with creative overload and enough projects to keep 4 people busy until 2016.

This is what I made today. Quick and easy, like most of my ideas. It's just a little holder for sugar and sugar substitute packets. I used markers and some freehand doodling to spruce it up a bit. I started out small so that if anything went wrong, it wouldn't go wrong on a grand scale! This was my first time using colored markers (Sharpie Permanent) on ceramic - a little different than the black oil-based paint marker I used here.

I'm going to try to bake this piece, too, to see if the ink becomes permanent...I'm not sure it will. Since this was more of an experiment than anything else, I'll try it again with oil-based markers if the plan to bake doesn't work out.

Overall, I'm happy with this attempt. It gives me the courage to move on to something larger. I have a few things in mind, of course! I'll share them with you when they're done.

Stay tuned.
